About the Artwork
The picture Whirl I refers to oil technique in combination with gold color. It´s a strong and dominant color. Gold makes light play on its surface and brings changes in the perception. It gives incomparable warmth and light to the painting. At the same time, it is very delicate matter working with this sophisticated color. Working abstractly she let her mind drift into the space of patterns, colors, and structures far away from storylines that are carried by objects and scenery. Do is at rest when she can depart from reality in depiction of imagery and merge herself with the process of creation. Her art is based on a simple method of creation: point, line, and stain. Juliana Do says; "The combinations are endless – since the mind is boundless". For Do, space in the picture is important in order to embrace the principle of light: a so-called ‘visual escape from the 2-dimension’. Do believes that abstract art is the perfect platform for exploring the nature of her consciousness, and the contemplative timeless questions of transcendence and spirituality.
